About US

Turkey is famous for a diverse set of artisanal elements, from traditional Turkish tea to majestic hand-woven carpets. More than 30% of the world’s reserves of marble are found in Turkey, valued for its unrivalled strength and sheer variety of colour. Ali Sayakci’s prized marble quarry is located high up in Turkey’s northwest hills and, as the owner of Evadne Yachts, it’s no coincidence that the geometric stone’s attributes carry through to the entire ROCK range – angular, strong and beautiful.

What began as one man’s thirst for perfection has evolved into an entire breed of boat. The ROCK range of explorer yachts introduces a new class of boat to yachting. The vision was to deliver an explorer platform with strength, performance and top tier amenities while optimising onboard space to heighten the yachting lifestyle. ROCK exceeds this.

Building in steel and aluminium is central to the ROCK go-anywhere DNA. It sets the scene for owners to travel the world aboard their home, providing comfort and solidity even in rough waters and harsh conditions. It’s a sea utility vessel for all purposes, all conditions, all owners.

“It would be easier and faster to build in GRP or composite, but we spend time, energy and resources to custom-build our yachts with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure to ensure they are high quality, seaworthy vessels.” – Ali Sayakci, Owner & President of Evadne Yachts

Shipyard

Located in Tuzla in the province of Istanbul, Turkey, Evadne Yachts’ substantial facilities comprise a 2400msq boat yard, 600msq office buildings and 200msq social facility areas. The family-owned yacht builder was founded in 2005 as an extension to Evren Marine, its existing refit and repair yard that has seen more than 1,000 vessels pass through its facilities since being established in 1994.

By drawing on Turkey’s long boatbuilding heritage, partnering with top European designers and leveraging the highly motivated and experienced workforce from Evren Marine, Evadne Yachts has carved out a name for itself as one of Turkey’s foremost builders of high quality explorer yachts. With performance and design at the fore, the ROCK range of semi-custom builds ties in with Turkey’s longstanding manufacturing history and bespoke furniture making tradition, not to mention historic connection with the maritime industry.

The legacy of the Port of Istanbul is more than 2,500 years old and is the largest city in Turkey. Located on the peninsula between Europe and Asia, it was once the capital of the Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire and the Turkish Republic, prized for its position at the entrance to the Black Sea. The small boats and barges built in the 1400s to carry passengers and cargo across the Marmara Sea and along the Golden Horn, an inlet of the Bosporus, formed the foundation for Turkey’s shipbuilding enterprise. Today, Turkey is recognised as the third largest yacht building country in the world, and Evadne Yachts sits at the heart of it.

“When you pair world-class design with Turkey’s competitive boatbuilding edge, you create the ultimate talent pool.” – Ali Sayakci, Owner & President of Evadne Yachts

Design

The svelte design of the ROCK series conceived by Vripack – a world leader in yacht design made strong through its extensive engineering experience – is underpinned by the Dutch design studio’s expert naval architecture. The initial automotive design inspiration, more specifically, the curved structure of a Range Rover, remains a key draw for today’s owners. As does the capability for long range cruising. But the backbone of Vripack’s design – a capable, safe and comfortable home at sea that places the owner at the centre of the adventure – completes the semi-custom package.

“Vripack introduced us to the concept of an SUV yacht, and it was love at first sight.” – Ali Sayakci, Owner & President, Evadne Yachts

Vripack’s design philosophy is informed by a creative, holistic and collaborative approach. When paired with Evadne Yachts and project managers Tufan and Brothers, the result is robust and spacious. ROCK is grand in style with spacious living zones. Vripack’s expertise – honed over 60 years with more than 7,000 designs in its portfolio – optimises the interior volume. The result is a streamlined, sporty exterior that belies the amount of interior space found on board.

“It’s a three-deck boat that looks like a two-deck boat in profile, and having a sleek aesthetic was one of the original requirements.” – Bart Bouwhuis, Co-Creative Director, Vripack

Fold-down terraces invite intimate gatherings. High-end craftsmanship, personalised by versatile customisation, exists in every corner. Inside and out, a tactile use of maple wood and muted fabrics is anchored by the quarryman’s love of marble, sliced wafer thin to save on weight. Textured soft furnishings that contrast with angular 3D shapes serve to complement the voluminous open plan layout and uninterrupted sight lines afforded by large swathes of glass. Rock’s curvaceous automotive design inspiration remains identifiable, but the overall effect is a home on the water with never-ending views of the ocean beyond.

“On board the family will always be facing the sea. That’s how we designed ROCK 85, and the entire ROCK range continues this trend.”– Robin de Vries, Senior Designer, Vripack
